We are a team of about 15 people that carries out practical water engineering projects related to urban water management, water restoration as well as marine observations and planning. We are looking for an expert to work in a multidisciplinary team within the Intelligent and Sustainable Stormwater Management (ISMO) project. ISMO aims to develop digital twins of two urban catchments through integration of stormwater management models (e.g. SWMM), CFD-models, Building Information Models, 3D City models and other open data as well as real-time monitoring data. Your role will be to develop monitoring schemes and technical solutions to collect data for the development and validation of SWMM and CFD-based models, and to participate in the data and model fusion for the development of the digital twins.

What we expect:
- Master’s degree or higher in a suitable field (e.g. ideally, a PhD and experience of stormwater monitoring, or an MSc in a suitable field and willingness to apply to the doctoral programme in engineering at Aalto University)
- Ambition and enthusiasm for high-quality research
- Solid understanding of environmental monitoring principles and technologies
- Basic knowledge of standard GIS software and applications in the domain of environmental sciences
- (at least) basic knowledge of stormwater management using conventional and blue-green infrastructure or nature-based solutions
- English proficiency in writing scientific text and project applications.

- Proficiency in working with different open data models and formats
- Experience in data management and database systems (creation and curation), including real-time databases
