Our Ressun lukio IB World School 001419 is looking for an Economics and TOK teacher for preliminary class and IB DP classes for a fixed-term position, at least 16 teaching lessons in a week (päätoiminen tuntiopettaja).
The IB Diploma programme is aimed at students who want an internationally-recognised diploma for their further studies and careers. They come from many different schools, both from Finland and abroad. The language of instruction is English.
Ressun lukio IB World School has the Diploma Programme and our students are 16-18 years old. Ressun lukio became an authorised IB school in 2002. Our IB DP graduates have succeeded well above the global average in their studies and have been admitted to universities throughout the world.
Ressun lukio IB in the largest IB DP school in Finland of 120 PreDP students and 220 DP students. The students are highly motivated who aim high. The student material is international and therefore fluent communication skills and especially English language skills are of high importance when it comes to staff members.
The Diploma programme is a demanding and a rigorous upper secondary programme for both the students and as well for the teaching staff. It requires effective skills in time-management and student welfare in order to help the student get through their studies in the best possible manner.
As a work community Ressun lukio IB is big and international. The staff consists of teachers and other staff members for various fields and the majority of subjects have several teachers. As a result the work requires extensively good social skills and the ability to work both independently and in tight collaboration with other members of the subject group as well as other members of the staff especially student welfare services.
The role of an TOK teacher is especially significant in terms of the entire staff because the role of TOK as one of the CORE elements of the Diploma programme. The position of a TOK teacher requires a wide knowledge of the Diploma programme beyond the limits of a specific subject or subject group. A significant aspect of the TOK teacher is to work in collaboration with all subject groups and staff members in terms of helping, guiding and making sure TOK is apparent in all areas when it comes to the implementation of the DP programme.
Ressun lukio IB World School operates in renovated premises at Ruoholahdenkatu 23.
Qualification requirements:
Qualification requirements are determined according to Decree 1998/986. The teacher must have a master's degree, pedagogical studies for teachers 60 ECTS credits, and 120 ECTS credits in one of the subjects taught, and 60 ECTS credits in the other subjects taught.
In general upper secondary education, the teacher must master the language used in teaching.
Necessary qualifications must be formally obtained by the end of the application period.
If there are no qualified applicants for a fixed-term position, applicants without the necessary qualifications will also be taken into account.
A person hired in a fixed-term position must submit an extract from the criminal record as referred to in the Act on Checking the Criminal Background of Persons Working with Children (504/2002).

In addition, the position requires up-to-date teaching experience in both IB DP subjects.
