As an RDI Specialist in international funding, your key responsibilities will include:
- Understanding Savonia's international funding needs and processes
- Actively seeking funding opportunities that align with the needs of our research fields
- Familiarising yourself with the details of various funding programmes
- Supporting project preparation and, when necessary, guiding the grant application process
- Drafting and writing grant applications in collaboration with experts from our research and educational fields
- Monitoring and reporting the progress of grant applications
- Communicating with funding bodies during the application process

In this role, you will be part of a dynamic RDI services team of ten experts, supporting Savonia's research and educational fields in grant applications. The role involves both teamwork and a significant degree of independent work.
You will work in modern facilities within an international environment and collaborate closely with industry partners. The primary workplace is Savonia's Kuopio campus, but there may be opportunities to work at other Savonia campuses as well. In this position there is also possibility of partial remote work. We also offer flexible working hours, which help in balancing work and personal life.
Requirements for the RDI Specialist position include:
- A relevant higher education degree
- Strong experience in project management and project administration
- Experience in applying for internationally funded RDI projects
- Proficiency in both written and spoken Finnish and English
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work independently
We value knowledge of international research, development, and innovation activities within universities of applied sciences, as well as expertise in EU projects. International work experience would be a strong asset. In this role, you will network extensively within Savonia and with various external stakeholders and companies in a complex operating environment. You will also need resilience under pressure, the ability to manage complex tasks, and attention to detail. Please be prepared for the fact that, due to the nature of the task, we require applicants invited to the interview to provide a sample of an English-language project proposal written by the applicant themselves, or alternatively, an English-language research article.
Employment terms and salary will be determined according to the Sivista collective agreement for universities of applied sciences. The total salary will be based on the selected candidate's skills, education, and experience. Upon commencement, the full-time base salary for the position is €3636 per month, plus an experience-based increase of 0-16% and a potential role-specific allowance of 0-15%. The international funding specialist role will be filled starting on November 1, 2024, and it is a full-time, fixed-term position until the end of 2026. The position includes a probationary period of 6 months.
