The Lahti Symphony Orchestra invites applications for the position of Concertmaster (first position). Work starts on 17th of August 2026 or when agreed.

The Concertmaster, together with the alternating Concertmaster, is responsible for rehearsing and developing the string sections, maintaining his/her soloistic skills as required by the orchestral repertoire. The leader performs the solo violin parts in orchestral works and assists the conductors in artistic matters when necessary. When selecting a player for this post, we will attach importance to his/her experience in similar positions, and to good collaborative and interactive skills.

The concertmaster of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra will have the opportunity to use high level instrument of Santo Serafin from ca. 1740.

2. Audition on May 27th, 2026
- The orchestra will choose the participants to the audition based on the video and information in the applications
- Invitations to the audition will be sent in week 18/2026.
- The Audition will be arranged as followed: It will be held in the Sibelius Hall’s main hall (Ankkurikatu 7, Lahti) on May 27th, 2026, from 10 a.m. onwards.

- L. van Beethoven: Violin Concerto in D, Op.61

The salary, including the individual pay component and recording supplement, is 4711-5087 € per month.

Feedback on the videos is not provided.

The audition may include an interview and a personal evaluation. Should a present member of the orchestra be appointed to the position, his/her successor may be selected at the same audition. A trial period (6 months) is assigned to the selected person.
