This internship is designed for students who do not speak Finnish or Swedish as their mother tongue but are eager to learn Finnish during their internship.

The internship involves mainly office-work in english. The aim is to update english documents in environment healthcare, environment protection and in building control. The intern has also the opportunity to get to know the inspections of all three organizations.

It is essential to be able to write in english and to understand finnish.

The Permits and Supervision Service Area is responsible for the official functions of the Technical Sector, which include building control, environmental protection, environmental health, as well as parking enforcement and vehicle removals. These duties are regulated by law.

The trainee positions are intended for students enrolled in higher education institutions in Turku (the University of Turku, Åbo Akademi University, Turku University of Applied Sciences, Yrkeshögskolan Novia, and Humak University of Applied Sciences).

A student may complete only one internship period with the City of Turku.

The internship period may last a maximum of three months.

To promote equality and non-discrimination, the City of Turku favors anonymous recruitment. In practice, this means that in the first stage of the recruitment process, the open‑ended questions in the internship application should not include information such as age, mother tongue, or gender. Although some of this information is requested in the background section, it is not visible to the recruiting supervisor in the anonymous applicant report.
