The Oulu Sinfonia Orchestra invites applications for the substitute position of PRINCIPAL II VIOLIN.

Oulu Sinfonia is composed of 61 musicians and is the northernmost symphony orchestra in Finland. The Oulu Sinfonia Orchestra performs traditional symphony concerts, as well as a wide range of musical genres. Madetoja hall at the Oulu Music Center has 816 seats.

The task is to act as the principal of the II violin in the symphony orchestra. The principal II violin is expected to maintain his/her playing skills and carry out all other tasks within the area of responsibility.

The position requires excellent playing skills and good social interaction skills.

Bonuses for previous work experience shall be added to the pay in accordance with the Collective Agreement along with compensations for costume and musical instrument. In addition, will be paid locally agreed media and media usage compensation.

The application must include an audition video. The video may be published on a video platform (e.g. YouTube or Vimeo) or on a social media platform (e.g. LinkedIn or Facebook). The video may be public or unlisted, meaning it can be viewed via a link only. The video link will be added to the “Additional Information” field in the application form.

The audition videos must be submitted by Monday, June 1, 2026 at 3:00 PM.

Audition repertoire:

1st video
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3, 4, or 5: From the beginning up to the start of the recapitulation, including the cadenza.
- May be performed with or without piano accompaniment.
- The video may be no more than one year old.

2nd video
Orchestral excerpts, 3 pieces
- Can be separate videos or one continuous video.

If the selection of the principal cannot be made based solely on the video audition, the candidates who advance from the preliminary round will be invited to an additional live audition.
