The objective of the TuKKBio project is to assess the suitability of peat-replacing growing media as feedstocks for biogas production. The project focuses in particular on the biogas potential, nutrient content, and harvesting and cultivation possibilities of common reed (Phragmites australis) and reed canary grass (Phalaris arundinacea). In addition, the use of these biomasses and poultry manure as feedstocks for biogas production will be studied at a pilot plant using a previously developed sloped-bottom biogas reactor.

What does the role involve?
As a Project Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing VAMK’s share of the joint project in accordance with the project plan, working together with other VAMK staff members and under the guidance of the project manager responsible for VAMK’s contribution.
Your main tasks include planning, construction, and operation of the pilot plant, as well as supervising a project employee.
Your duties also include conducting studies and research related to biogas potential and digestate from the pilot plant, as well as preparing cost calculations.
In addition, you will produce reports and other materials required for the project.

What do we expect from you?
We expect the Project Specialist to have basic IT skills and strong documentation capabilities.
Essential for the role is experience in the design, construction, and operation of biogas plants.
Your working languages are Finnish and English. You have good cooperation, interaction, and communication skills. You take initiative, work proactively, and act responsibly. The terms of employment and salary are determined in accordance with the collective agreement for universities of applied sciences. The position is paid on a contractual salary basis. At 25 % working time, the monthly salary will be approximately 750-1000 €/month depending on your relevant work experience and expertise.
