Senior Postdoc Researcher in Solar Photovoltaics

We are seeking a Senior Researcher in Photovoltaic (PV) Systems to strengthen our applied research, development, and innovation (RDI) activities in advanced solar energy systems.

The position is based at Turku University of Applied Sciences (Turku UAS) and focuses on industry oriented research, international collaboration, and the development of high impact, data driven solutions for modern PV systems, particularly bifacial and agrivoltaic (AgriPV) applications.

As a Senior Researcher, you will take a leading role in applied research and project management within national and international RDI initiatives. Your key responsibilities include leading and managing research projects related to PV system implementation and reliability, ensuring timely execution and high scientific quality.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Energy Technology, or a closely related field
- Strong and well documented understanding of photovoltaic principles, from cell and module physics to system level design and implementation
- Demonstrated expertise in advanced PV system modeling, especially for bifacial PV systems (e.g. ray tracing or comparable approaches)
- Proven knowledge of PV cell and module characterization techniques, particularly EL and PL measurements
- Excellent programming and data analysis skills, with demonstrated expertise in Python or other relevant languages for modeling and simulation
- Experience in managing or significantly contributing to EU or nationally funded research and innovation projects is highly preferred
- Ability to work independently while effectively leading research tasks, work packages, or project components
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Proven experience in international RDI project coordination and consortium work
- Track record in research funding acquisition and proposal writing
- Project management skills in applied, industry oriented research environments
- Experience in collaboration with companies, technology providers, or energy and agricultural stakeholders.

OTHER TERMS

In this position, the work takes place in Finland.

The salary is determined according to the Sivista Collective Agreement for Universities of Applied Sciences (Sivista AMKTES).

The position is planned to start 1 October 2026 or as agreed, with a fixed term contract until 30 September 2029. A probationary period of six months applies.

Interviews may be conducted already during the application period.

We will conduct a background check on the selected candidate to ensure research security. The position requires the ability to use any equipment and information systems related to the role in compliance with their licence terms.
