During your traineeship, you will make important contacts for your future and learn about the city as an employer. Through the Trainee Programme, you can complete your university internship and get a good start to your career.

    The Trainee programme runs from 17 August to 18 December 2026. You will be paid for your traineeship. A University internship voucher is an advantage. We use a hybrid working model that allows flexible remote and on‑site work in many roles. The International Trainee Programme is targeted at international students or recent international graduates from Finnish universities.

    The International Trainee programme is carried out in English. There will also be joint meetings together with the Finnish-language Trainee programme and you will be part of Finnish-speaking workplace community. You can use English in your daily work, while also having opportunities to practice your Finnish.

    A Finnish discussion club is available for International Trainees to improve their Finnish during the traineeship.

    In this role, you will support projects related to digitalization, data utilization, and emerging technologies within the Economic and Innovation Policy service group. The trainee will participate in various development and research tasks that combine technical understanding, analytics, service development and interaction with different stakeholders.

    The trainee’s tasks may include, for example:
    -contributing to the preparation and implementation of projects that utilize data, AI or new technologies
    -collecting, analyzing and documenting data
    -conducting background research and preparing materials
    -working in a project-based manner as part of a multidisciplinary network
    -coordinating meetings, workshops and events

    In a trainee we are looking for technical understanding and the ability to quickly absorb new information, strong interpersonal and collaboration skills as well as proactive, solution-oriented working approach.

    We require you to have completed three years of higher education studies in a technical field. The position also requires that you have understanding of new technologies, such as artificial intelligence or XR technologies.

    It will be beneficial if you have experience in:
    -software development
    -project work
    -strong written communication

    The salary in this position is 2310,57 €/month.
