We are looking for A LABORATORY ENGINEER for a permanent position as of 1st of August 2026 or as agreed upon.
Would you like to contribute to high quality ICT education as well as research and development? As a Laboratory Engineer you are responsible for Karelia UAS’ ICT laboratory’s infrastructure, including operative maintenance and developing smart solutions for automation and successful management. Your work ensures secure and efficient use of ICT environments for learning, innovation, and collaboration. As a Laboratory Engineer, your job includes:
- Supporting teaching and RDI activities: preparing and optimizing environments
- Providing user support for students, teachers, RDI staff, and administration
- Operating, maintaining, and managing ICT infrastructure capacity (including updates and contingency planning)
- Practical development work: designing and implementing automation and management solutions
- Ensuring information security and risk management: safety, governance, and continuity planning
What we expect from you:
- Good interpersonal and customer service skills
- Good command of English and basic skills in Finnish
- Experience in ICT infrastructure management; knowledge of Nutanix and Cisco UCS environments or similar technologies is considered an advantage
- A systematic and security-conscious approach to work
- Ability to develop and maintain automation and management solutions
- Understanding of the technical requirements of teaching and RDI activities
- Interest in learning new things and supporting others in learning
The eligibility requirement for the position is a relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
- The salary and terms of the position are determined in accordance with the collective agreement for universities of applied sciences by Sivistysala ry
- Salary: €2 744,44-3 073,84 per month, plus an experience-based supplement of 4-16%
- Probation period: 6 months
- Working hours: 36.25 hours/week (7.25 hours/day), flexible working hours
- The position requires regular on-site work on Karelia’s campuses; partial remote work is possible
