Do you want to help build the next major growth leap in deep technologies and support the commercialisation and scaling of research‑based solutions?

Do you want to help build the next major growth leap in deep technologies and support the commercialisation and scaling of research‑based solutions? The Deep Tech Growth Ecosystems in the Capital Region project focuses on fields with Finland’s strongest growth potential in deep tech: green chemistry, circular economy and other green technologies, as well as semiconductors, microelectronics and quantum technologies. These sectors play a key role in industrial transformation, the green transition and strengthening Europe’s competitiveness.

The project is an EU‑funded consortium led by the City of Espoo and implemented in close cooperation with the City of Vantaa. The objective is to strengthen the growth, commercialisation and investment readiness of startups and scale-ups in the selected focus areas.

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of the project, operational coordination, and the effective implementation of Espoo’s work packages. Your primary workplace will be at A Grid on Aalto University’s Otaniemi campus - at the heart of Finland’s leading innovation hub. You will also work actively in other locations, including the Green Line cluster along the metro line.

In this position, you will:

• build, develop and increase the visibility of the green technology innovation ecosystem
• successfully connect green technology startups and growth companies with investors, facilities, hubs, research organisations, customers, partners and pilot opportunities
• organise events that help green tech companies bring their products and services to market and better understand their customers
• support the establishment of semiconductor companies in the region by helping them identify suitable premises, plots and talent solutions
• plan and deliver sector‑specific and cross‑sector events together with the project planner and project partners to support deep tech growth
• co-create and develop service offerings for companies together with partners
• work closely with companies and manage professional client relations in collaboration with partners, the Business Espoo business services network, Enter Espoo and various company communities
• be responsible for project leadership, results and reporting to funders and the steering group.

You will work in the Economic Development Unit of the City of Espoo, where we build sustainable growth and vitality for the city. You will be part of the innovation and development service area, which develops Espoo’s innovation ecosystems. We offer a creative work environment with an open and collaborative culture.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a Project Manager who understands the everyday realities of green technology startups and growth companies, and is motivated by accelerating company growth. You have experience in business development of startups and growth companies, and in building collaboration networks or innovation ecosystems. You are familiar with the green technology and semiconductor industries and can identify new opportunities at the intersections of the industries.

You work in a development‑driven, customer‑focused and self‑motivated way. Your strategic thinking and hands‑on approach support both company competitiveness and the vitality of the city. You have experience coordinating or leading multi‑stakeholder collaboration, strong project management skills, and a professional approach to customer work and relationship management. You thrive in a changing environment and have experience organising impactful events. You communicate clearly, are confident when presenting, negotiate effectively, and are able to balance different perspectives. You work fluently in English and are also able to work in Finnish.

We consider it an advantage if you have experience in entrepreneurship, deep tech ecosystems or supporting companies, service development, or EU‑funded and other publicly funded development projects.
