THIS IS THE WAY TOWARDS A DREAM JOB IN SAVONIA! We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineering Lecturer to join our team in Kuopio in a permanent, full-time position in an English-language program.

The key tasks of a Mechanical Engineering lecturer include, among others:
- Teaching and guidance related to the mechanical engineering and mechatronics in English, as well as the planning and development of teaching. Courses are conducted through both face-to-face and online instruction.
- Supervising thesis projects.
- Participating in research, development, and innovation activities, as well as business activities serving higher education and the working life.
- National and international network collaboration.

The final job description is shaped according to the skills and interests of the selected individual. The tasks are confirmed annually in the work schedule. The work schedule also determines the free periods for teaching staff (12 weeks) in accordance with Savonia's annual schedule and the applicable collective agreement.

As a Mechanical Engineering Lecturer, you will be part of an international team where you can develop and deliver high-quality education in collaboration with various experts to meet workplace skill demands. We work in modern facilities in an international environment and collaborate with industry partners. As a teacher, you have the flexibility to choose the time and place for at least 28% of your work hours. The annual work time for a full-time teacher is 1,600 hours.

For the role of Mechanical Engineering Lecturer, we expect from you:
- A relevant higher education degree
- At least 3 years of work experience in the field
- Proficiency in English
- Ability to work in digital environments and utilize them in teaching
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A proactive approach to development in the field
- Understanding of the future trends in the working life

Additionally, we expect expertise in one or more of the following technologies related to teaching:
1. Manufacturing technology (machining, edge-cutting, welding, chip removal techniques, sheet metal work, casting basics)
2. Material technology
3. 3D modeling and technical drawing
4. Machine automation systems and industrial robotics
5. Strength of materials
6. Mechanics
7. Machine part design

You may have a background in machine automation or mechanical engineering. We appreciate skills in working with the Finnish language. We also value pedagogical expertise, but if you lack pedagogical studies, you can complete them within three years from the start of employment. We also hope you are interested in project work and international collaboration. As a teacher and in project work, you will network with various stakeholders and companies.

The terms of employment and salary are determined in accordance with the General Collective Agreement for the Universities of Applied Sciences by Sivista. The total salary for the position is based on the qualifications, education, and experience of the selected individual. For a full-time employee meeting all the qualification requirements, the salary range is €4757,26 - €6146,83 per month, with an additional 2% salary increase for those with a licentiate degree and 4% for those with a doctoral degree. The position of Internet of Things lecturer is filled from August 1, 2024, and it is full-time. Position’s headquartered is Microkatu campus in Kuopio. The position also include teaching and guidance at other Savonia’s campuses. The selected candidate will have a probationary period of 6 months.
